When God Says "No" | 21 Days of Prayer: Day 20
Friday Aug 21, 2020
Friday Aug 21, 2020
Let's deal with a rarely spoken truth concerning prayer -- when God says "no." In fact, there are scriptures we stand on in prayer that say the opposite:
John 15:7 (NLT): 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT): 20 For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
1 John 5:14–15 (NLT): 14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.
Every "no" is not a never but a possible "not yet." It's not that God is saying "no" because He doesn't want us to have the desires of our heart, but remember our prayers must align to His purpose and His plan for our lives. If we respond properly to the "no", it will shape our hearts to align to the heart of God and manifest a bigger "YES!"
There are times in our lives where God is protecting us from things we did not even know to pray against. I’ve learned it’s easy to get excited when God says “yes” to what we have been praying for but what about having the same excitement for the things God says “no” to. I dare you to thank God for all the things He blocked that you didn’t even know you didn’t want.

Abide | 21 Days of Prayer: Day 19
Thursday Aug 20, 2020
Thursday Aug 20, 2020
Every day, we are bombarded with news of conflicts, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, diseases, and new strains of drug-resistant viruses. You may be tempted to ask yourself, “Is there a place where I can truly be safe?”
Yes, there is! God foresaw all these things and He has promised in His Word protection from every evil known to man. There is no trap set by the devil that our Father cannot deliver us from, if we trust in Him and take Him as our refuge. That is His promise in Psalm 91. Make a daily decision to make Him your dwelling place, and know His angels are watching over you right now. They give heed to the voice of God’s Word. This means that you should agree with and speak what God’s Word says about His preserving and protecting you and your household.
You have access by faith into the secret place of the Most High where no evil can touch you. There is no need to fear living in these times because the Lord is your Refuge and Fortress.

Healthy relationships understand the true source of where needs are met and where resources come from. Sometimes, the people who make the biggest withdrawals from your life make the least deposits in your life. Start to surround yourself with people who feed you, not with those who always need you.

Right Perspective | 21 Days of Prayer: Day 18
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
Wednesday Aug 19, 2020
Perspective serves as the filter to how we view life around us. The key to maintaining peace throughout your day is maintaining the right perspective. This will enable you to approach every situation with a heart of love rather than any other emotion that may readily try to substitute itself in love’s place.
I can remember the last time I was on an airplane. Before we took off from the airport, I looked around at all of the landmarks surrounding me. All of the buildings and trees looked absolutely massive. Upon takeoff, the higher we climbed, the smaller the landmarks looked. I was viewing them from a new perspective.
In prayer, we have an invitation from God to gain a fresh perspective and to have key insight into the situations in our lives that may seem daunting. In fact, the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah lets us know that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours (Isa. 55:8-9). The apostle Paul invites us into a deeper walk with the Lord by asking His Spirit to reveal the secret mysteries to us that we do not understand (1 Cor. 2:8-9).
I encourage you to invite God’s perspective into your life today. Choose to view everything that happens to and around you from His perspective. You will learn to respond as Jesus would and experience the blessing that comes from obeying God’s way.

Pure Heart | 21 Days of Prayer: Day 17
Tuesday Aug 18, 2020
Tuesday Aug 18, 2020
Pure Motives consist of actions that come from the heart. Long before an impure action took place, it first began with an impure motive. Purity does not ask the question of, “How far can I go until it is a sin?” Rather asks, “What can I do to not even give the appearance of sin?” Prayer and time with the Lord help us to filter our hearts from the impurities within the world and cleanse our minds from any fleshly desires. It's in those quiet and still moments we can allow the Lord to examine how we are really doing.
Living a life out of a pure heart leads to true power and freedom. The more we detach from dependence on the world, the more we attach to Christ. The pursuit of purity is a progressive awareness of God’s grace, acceptance, and presence as we trust in Him to reveal more of His character in our lives. We grant the Holy Spirit access to do a work within us when we refuse to tolerate questionable behavior, impure thoughts, and other forms of disobedience to what the Word of God instructs us to do.
